Full job description
Job Purpose:
To independently perform chemical/process engineering design of subsections of plants of facilities and to support the operation and optimisation of Necsa’s plants and R&D projects in accordance with Necsa, SHEQ, regulatory and nuclear licencing requirements on a project basis (as part of an engineering team under full, limited to no direct supervision of an engineer-in-training, junior engineer to engineer respectively).requirements.
Key Performance Areas:
- Perform concept and basic process engineering of plants or facilities on assigned SSCs and produce typical output documentation to specify the product/s appropriately and in sufficient detail for efficient configuration management;
- Provide process engineering input to the detail design phases of projects;
- Provide input to feasibility studies;
- Perform the function of SSC owner for facilities in which ENS is appointed as design authority and takes responsibility for the performance of an integrated system;
- Typically be accountable for own engineering output and expected to independently deliver suitable output to achieve set project objectives when performing as an engineer;
- Apply application internationally acceptable standards during the design process, specifically for subsections of facilities and SSCs
- Incorporate the approved design processes and safety, licensing and SHEQ-INS requirements into products/output to ensure compliance with the design control plan and applicable regulations and stakeholder requirements
- Contribute to Design Reviews, and update design accordingly
- Contribute to Hazard and Operability Studies, and update design accordingly
- Interact with the customer to ensure that reliable information and input is obtained from the customer and other stakeholders as input to design and problem solving for SSCs;
- Undertake problem solving and optimisation across Necsa and subsidiaries relating to chemical/process engineering aspects in process plants, (e.g. product purity, equipment malfunctioning, etc.) on an ad-hoc basis/ as requested with limited specialized guidance
- Check technical reports and design output of a process/chemical engineering nature of team members to ensure accuracy, sound assumptions and correct application of the selected codes and standards (e.g. perform design verification including alternative calculations where required).
- Conduct research and analysis to ensure recommendation of optimal and effective solutions to process engineering problems;
- Obtain sufficient information on operations of Necsa facilities to ensure that services add value and to minimise induction time.
