Job Description

Carry out activities in the packing area, ensuring the highest quality product is packed, labelled and palletised to ensure customer requirements are met.

Minimum Requirements

PACKING

Descriptor:

  • Prepare for packing by checking if equipment to be used is available (Shrink plastic wrap, trays and boxes).
  • Check if there is enough plastic in the machine.
  • Pack sauces inside trays while checking if product is filled to the required standard and labels are correctly placed.
  • Observe the wrapper machine while product is being wrapped, removing those that are not wrapped properly to be re-wrapped.
  • Understand specific machine control functions i.e. stop-start all safety devices.
  • Report quickly and efficiently, to the appropriate operator/Team Leader/Group Shift Leader regarding any on-line faults that may occur, are occurring or that have occurred.
  • Liaise with colleagues ensuring continuity of OEE% and carrying out effective handover to the next shift.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and carry out reasonable alternative duties, as and when required by the operative/Team Leader/Group Shift Leader.
  • Keep the area clean by cordoning the place, if there are broken bottles, and sweeping using the required cleaning material.

HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT

  • Adhere at ALL times to the Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out duties following Good Manufacturing Practices, 5S practices and assuming responsibility for hygiene and housekeeping in and around the work area.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring adherence to PPE regulations while working within a safe working environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

  • Matric OR Basic literacy and numeracy skills and ability to understand instructions

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in a similar hands-on role.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL

  • Able to work in a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving and fault finding skills
