Number of Positions: Six (6)
Term of Employment: Up to 160 calendar days per collective agreement
Union: CUPE
Salary: $22.47 per hour; plus $1.25 shift premium and overtime where applicable

The Public Works Operations Casual Labourer is part of the team dedicated to an excellent operational and customer service experience. The position will assist full time staff with duties as assigned in the Public Works section.

Candidates must have their own safety footwear.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist full time staff with daily maintenance tasks
  • Sweep streets and sidewalks
  • General dusting, cleaning and washing
  • Maintain building cleanliness and sanitation including lobbies, washrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, dressing rooms, spectator areas and the outside perimeter of the building
  • Shovel sand and debris onto trucks
  • Shoveling and placing of asphalt
  • Sand sidewalks
  • Install culverts
  • Clean culverts and open ditches
  • Assist with set up, servicing and take down of various community events.
  • Report vandalism, maintenance and/or public concerns, mechanical difficulties, equipment/property damage
  • Clean up of encampments
  • Complete daily logs and time sheets

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:

Essential (Minimum) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current and valid G Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Customer service experience

Asset Qualifications:

  • Class ‘DZ’ Ontario Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Traffic Control Training is considered an asset
